Congressman Darin LaHood joined with supporters of Florida Senator Marco Rubio today by announcing his endorsement of Rubio in the Republican Party’s primary race to select a presidential nominee.
“I am proud and honored today to endorse Senator Marco Rubio for President. He represents the best and brightest of what America has to offer,” said LaHood. “Senator Rubio’s uplifting plan to create good paying 21st Century jobs will ensure more people are able to achieve the American Dream. Marco is a transformational leader, with a bold vision for a New American Century. I am proud to be a part of his team, and I look forward to serving as Co-Chair of his Illinois presidential campaign.”
With this endorsement, Congressman LaHood becomes the highest-ranking elected official in Illinois to publicly endorse and support Marco Rubio thus far.
LaHood will also be filing to run as a presidential delegate for Senator Rubio in the 18th Congressional District he represents. The 18th Congressional District contains more Republican voters than any other district in the State of Illinois. In addition, the western edge of LaHood’s Congressional District borders the states of Iowa and Missouri and Rep. LaHood will assist Senator Rubio there as well.
Congressman LaHood will be co-chairing Marco Rubio’s Illinois presidential campaign with State Senator Mike Connelly of Lisle.
