Our entire listening area still has a Flood Warning until this evening and a Flash Flood Watch until Monday evening. According to WAND online, the record rainfalls are due to this after Christmas storm which extends from Texas to Illinois. This morning a record was set as the new high with over 4 inches of rain in several towns including Hillsboro, Pana, Shelbyville, and Sullivan. The 26th was recorded at a new all time high of rain accumulation in Decatur, Lincoln, and Springfield.
Many reports and social media posts of basements, yards, and streets all flooded are circulating around. Remember if streets are flooded DO NOT try to drive through, please turn around, because the water could be deeper than it appears and could leave you and the car stranded. Another 1-3″ of rain is expected as well as wind gusts up to 40 – 50 mph. If you’re attempting to go out today, please use caution.
