Illinois State Police District 10 Captain Louis Kink is proud to announce the arrival of new ballistic vests for the two canines (K-9) in District 10. A couple from Champaign County, who would like to remain anonymous, purchased new body armor specially made for each canine. Each one was fitted for his new protective gear which includes a removable reflective ID panel for enhanced visibility. K-9 Yadi is a four year old Dutch Shepherd. K-9 Edo is a two year old Belgian Malinois. They are two very talented resources in District 10’s Team of Troopers. Both Yadi and Edo are full-service canines, skilled in drug detection, criminal apprehension, tracking, handler protection, and article searches.
Captain Kink added, “The generosity of this couple is greatly appreciated in District 10. They reached out because they are animal lovers and they wanted our K-9’s to be safe. The skills of a K-9 are far greater than we can even understand. A K-9 has speed, agility, and an excellent sense of smell that sets them apart. K-9 Yadi and K-9 Edo’s efforts aid in keeping our citizens and roadways safe. Now they will have the added safety of ballistic body armor thanks to this thoughtful, caring couple.”
