(Washington, DC) — The man who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981 is being released from a psychiatric hospital. A federal judge ruled this morning that John Hinckley Junior no longer poses a threat to himself or the public. After 35 years of hospital treatment in Washington, DC, Hinckley will be free to live full-time with his mother in Virginia as soon as August 5th.
