According to WCIA Online earlier this year mail was sent out that confused a lot of registered voters, well it seems that the letters have been sent out again. The letters at first glance appear to have been sent by local election authorites. The Voter Participation Center, an independent group, is really the ones sending out the letters in fact. What makes the mail more confusing is there is a return postage with voting registration forms to be sent back to the local election offices are included in the letters. The letters have said that voters are eligible to vote, but aren’t registered. The problems with that is that those voters are already registered to vote, so they get alarmed for nothing and that the mail is actually addressed to previous owners of the house, no longer uses that name, or may be deceased, according to Champaign County Clerk Gordy Hulten. Based on the calls received of this mailing confusion many of the cases were because of outdated information. There is a simple solution though that can help clear everything up: to please check your voter status online at your local election authority’s website.
