Senate Leaders Promise Wednesday Budget Vote
(Springfield, IL) — The Democratic and Republican leaders of the Illinois Senate are promising a vote next Wednesday on their compromise budget plan. The plan combines new revenue from an income tax increase and a new tax on sugary soft drinks with some of the reforms Governor Rauner has been seeking. Even if the Senate approves the package, it’s not clear if House Speaker Michael Madigan will take up the proposal. Wednesday is also the day Governor Rauner will give his State of the State address.
