Illinois Attorney General: I Want To Solve State’ Budget Crisis
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ Attorney General says her move to stop state worker paychecks is a move to end Illinois’ budget crisis. Lisa Madigan penned an op-ed for “The State Journal Register” in Springfield yesterday that explains her thoughts. Madigan says she is asking a judge to stop paychecks at the end of the month because the state constitution is clear that governors can’t spend money without authorization. As for her timing, Madigan simply says she hoped lawmakers would’ve come to terms on a budget before now.
