Illinois State Police District 10 Commander, Captain Louis Kink, announced in a recent press release that the Illinois State Police will be conducting Special Traffic Enforcement Patrols (STEP) in Coles, Vermilion, and Champaign counties throughout May. STEPs allow ISP to focus on four fatal violations with contribute to the greatest of traffic crashes and fatalities. The four violations being targeted are: Driving under the Influence, Safety Belt and Child Restraint Use, Speeding, and Distracted Driving.
The ISP will increase their daytime and nighttime patrols to ensure the safety of vehicle travelers through enforcement of all traffic safety laws.
