Richland County in southeastern Illinois... Cumberland County in east central Illinois... Douglas County in east central Illinois... * Until 345 PM CDT Saturday * At 300 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported that flooding had receded little overnight, with several rural roadways experiencing continued flooding due to rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches that occurred Wednesday and Thursday. An additional quarter inch of rainfall is possible this morning which will help to delay the receding of flood water. Continued flooding will be mainly located along rivers and creeks and on secondary roadways. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Charleston, Mattoon, Olney, Paris, Robinson, Tuscola, Lawrenceville, Marshall, Newton, Toledo, Sumner, Arcola, Casey, Villa Grove, Arthur, Neoga, Greenup, Oblong, Palestine and Chrisman. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 between mile markers 174 and 217. Interstate 70 between mile markers 105 and 153. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
