According to Charleston School’s Superintendent Jim Littleford , at approximately 2:00 p.m., district officials received notification from the County’s 911 call center that a “man with a gun” was spotted outside of Charleston High School. Following the district’s Emergency Response Plans, Charleston High School, Charleston Middle School and Mark Twain Elementary School immediately began lock-down safety procedures. Local law enforcement agencies conducted sweeps of the high school and the area. At approximately 2:35 p.m., law enforcement determined that the schools and campuses were safe and lifted the need for the lockdowns.
