According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police, District 10, one suffers minor injuries after a personal injury crash, involving an IDOT work truck, occurred the morning of Friday, May 12th along Interstate 74, westbound, at milepost 179.8.
Preliminary details indicate an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) crew was on I-74 near milepost 180 performing work on the roadway while multiple IDOT vehicles displaying amber emergency lights were in the area providing traffic control. Despite traffic control, Sylvester Mitchell (unit 1) was travelling westbound when he stuck the rear attenuator of an IDOT work truck, driven by Suzette Flaishans (unit 2).
One individual was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, while Mitchell was cited for improper lane usage.
