According to a recent press release from Illinois State Police, District 10, two vehicles crossed lanes along Interstate 74, causing a traffic crash during the afternoon of Wednesday, May 24th 2017 approximately .25 Miles east of Milepost 204.
Preliminary details indicate Ramiz Kurdejovic, 49, from Louisville, KY (unit 1) was traveling eastbound when he lost control of the wheel, traveled through both eastbound lanes and entered the median. Unit 1 came to a rest in the median and partially into the westbound lane. Keith Ray Stamper, 52, of Winston Salem, NC (unit 2) attempted to avoid hitting unit 1, and skidded towards the median and entered into the eastbound lanes where he then came to a stop. During the crossing of the lanes, the trailer being hauled by unit 1 struck the trailer of unit 2, causing the flat bed trailer to overturn.
At this time the investigation remains ongoing, however both drivers are fine as no transports were necessary. Kurdejovic was cited for illegal lane usage.
