(Huntington Beach, CA) — More than 500 California surfers are in the Guinness Book of World Records today. The 511 surf lovers paddled away from Huntington Beach this morning, formed a circle and held hands for a minute. That was enough for them to claim the record for largest surf paddle-out. Fog and rip currents tried their best to keep them out of the record book, but the surfers prevailed. The event was dreamed up by the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum as a way to show support for surfing becoming an Olympic sport for the 2020 games.
