On Wednesday, July 19th, a Jack-knifed Semi Traffic crash occurred along I-57, southbound, at milepost 247 in Champaign County. Preliminary details from Illinois State Police, District 10, indicated Llewllyn P. Johnson, 60, from Michigan City, IN (unit 1) was south on I-57 and traveling in heavy rain when his Freightliner trailer jack-knifed. While he was able to correct it, the trailer came around and stuck the rear of the tractor causing it to jack-knife in the roadway and into the right ditch. Unit 1 came to a final rest in the west cornfield. Johnson was wearing a seatbelt and sustained no injuries from the accident. Johnson was issued two citations from Illinois Commerce Commission for Operating without Authority and No Lease on File.
