(Chicago, IL) — Both houses in the General Assembly are poised to take action next week on a school funding reform bill that Governor Rauner wants to change. Rauner is still waiting for the state board of education to evaluate the impact of his amendatory veto of the school funding reform bill. Lawmakers held a hearing Wednesday where local school officials complained that Rauner’s changes will mean less money for them. Still, Rauner says something has to happen soon, whether it’s his amendatory veto or some other compromise bill. The state Senate gathers Sunday when they could take an override vote on Rauner’s veto. House speaker Michael Madigan has called his members into session on Wednesday.
