Johnny Cash Family Condemns Charlottesville Protester Wearing Cash Shirt
(Nashville, TN) — Johnny Cash’s family is demanding that white supremacists and other hate groups stop using their father’s image on shirts promoting discrimination. Cash’s children slammed white supremacist groups who protested in Charlottesville, Virginia last week. In a Facebook posting Wednesday night, Cash’s children wrote, “Our father, as a person, icon, or symbol, is not you. We ask that the Cash name be kept far away from destructive and hateful ideology. We Choose Love.” “USA Today” says the family took notable exception with a video of a man wearing a Johnny Cash T-shirt at the Virginia rally. The Cash children said the image “sickened” them.
