Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is hosting a continuing education seminar for all Lake Land College Nursing alumni as part of the college’s Laker Homecoming celebration.
The seminar, titled The Future is Now: Updates on the Nursing Profession, is free of charge to Lake Land alumni and will be held at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Systems – Lumpkin Health Education Center, 101 Professional Plaza in Mattoon, on Friday, Sept. 29. The event sign in and lunch is at 11:30 a.m. while panel discussion begins at noon and guest speakers will run from 1-4:30 p.m. Four continuing education hours will be earned through this seminar.
Following the guest speakers, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center and the Lake Land College Alumni Relations office are hosting a social event for alumni with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from 4:30-6 p.m.
Guest speakers include Susan Swart, executive director ANA-Illinois; Lisa Hernandez, CNO, SBLHS; and Cindy Rivas, director of Women & Children’s Center, SBLHS. Swart is a registered nurse and serves as the executive director of ANA-Illinois, Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing and the Illinois Nurses Foundation. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of St. Francis and a master’s degree in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2005. She is currently working towards a doctorate with an emphasis in ethical leadership at Olivet Nazarene University. Swart’s work centers on advising registered nurses and advanced practice nurses how to become “politically savvy” and how best to interpret healthcare regulations.
