Deere To Buy California Tech Firm
(Moline, IL) — Those big green tractors are about to get a lot smarter. John Deere yesterday announced plans to buy a California tech firm that specializes in machine learning. The 300-million-dollar deal will give Deere ownership of Blue River Technology. Deere’s Agriculture Solutions President John May said Blue River will help make John Deere even more competitive by using technology to get the most out of farming. Blue River’s biggest advance are machines that allow farmers to pinpoint their use of pesticides and other chemicals. The deal should be complete by the end of the month.
