Mel Reynolds’ Trial Resumes Today
(Chicago, IL) — A trial resumes today in Chicago against former Illinois Congressman Mel Reynolds. The twice-convicted felon was indicted in 2015 on misdemeanor charges accusing him of failing to file federal income tax returns between 2009 and 2012. Federal prosecutors said yesterday that he failed to pay taxes despite earning more than 400-thousand-dollars for consulting work he did in Africa. Reynolds claimed the money was for business expenses and not income.
