(Los Angeles, CA) — The founder of “Playboy,” Hugh Hefner, is dead at the age of 91. A representative says Hefner passed away today from natural causes at the Playboy Mansion near Beverly Hills, California. Hefner founded “Playboy” magazine in 1953 and built the company to one of the most recognizable brands in the world. “Hef” had been keeping a low profile lately and was reportedly not at his annual Midsummer Night’s bash at the mansion in August. Cooper Hefner released a statement saying his “father lived an exceptional and impactful life” and was a “leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.”
