SIU Chancellor Pitches New Programs, Reopens Museum Despite Enrollment Woes
(Carbondale, IL) — The museum on the campus of Southern Illinois University will reopen and the school will see new programs. SIU Chancellor Carlo Montemagno told a university crowd yesterday that he has big plans for the campus. But the new academic vision comes as SIU continues to lose students. Enrollment this fall is down ten-percent from last year, and down 17-percent from five years ago. Montemagno says he hopes to reverse that trend by offering a ‘world-class educational experience.’
