(Chicago, IL) — Mayor Emanuel is assuring participants and spectators that security plans for Sunday’s Chicago Marathon are up to date. Emanuel says the plans have been reviewed in light of the Las Vegas shooting. At the official kickoff ceremony, he emphasized it’s what always takes place. He said the city reviewed its plans after the Boston Marathon bombing, and again after terrorist attacks in Paris, Brussels and London. Police officials pointed out that in addition to uniformed police, there will be officers under cover during the race that’s expected to involve 40-thousand runners and hundreds of thousands of spectators.
