Steve Scalise Throws Out First Pitch At MLB Game
(Washington, DC) — House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is adding “throwing out a first pitch at a baseball game” to his resume. The Republican Congressman from Louisiana threw out the ceremonial first pitch last night before Game One of the Major League Baseball Divisional Series between the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs. Scalise was shot and seriously wounded at a practice for the Annual Congressional Baseball game back in June. U.S. Capitol Police Special Agent David Bailey, one of two officers wounded in the shooting, caught the ceremonial pitch from Scalise. The crowd gave Scalise a loud ovation. After using forearm crutches to walk onto the field, Scalise delivered a strike right over the plate to Bailey.
