A driver faces multiple charges after a crash involving 4 vehicle units occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, October 13th along I-57, north, near milepost 154 in Effingham County.
Preliminary details from Illinois State Police indicate Shelli Ferguson, 41, from Texas (Unit 1) was north along I-57 when her flatbed trailer lost part of its load. The pieces that fell where large pieces of metal, which then caused three vehicles driving behind, Gilberto Gil of Mexico (Unit 2), Cedric Walker of Tennessee (Unit 3), and William Phillips also of Tennessee (Unit 4) all to crash into the load. Units 3 and 4 required a tow truck due to the damage and the driver of unit 3 was transported to St. Anthony Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of Unit 1 faced many citations including: leaving the scene of an injury crash, failure to render aid/information, improper lane usage, unsecured load, false log book, and wanted on warrant.
