(Santa Rosa, CA) — The death toll in the Northern California wildfires is now at least 40. Five more deaths were confirmed today, with 22 bodies recovered in hard-hit Sonoma County. The death toll is likely to rise in what is already the deadliest wildfire event in California history. Crews continue to search through the rubble for victims. More than 200 people are still missing almost a week after the fires broke out last Sunday.
