The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory in Effect from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m CST Saturday for the following counties in our Illinois listening area:
Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, Shelby, Cumberland, Clark, Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, Clay, Richland, and Lawrence.
* TIMING…Gusty southerly winds will occur ahead of a cold front
Saturday morning, then even stronger northwest winds will
occur in the afternoon and early evening hours, after the front
passes.
* WINDS…Peak values of 30 to 35 MPH can be expected during the
morning hours. Then gusts will increase to near 45 MPH at times
in the afternoon and early evening.
* IMPACTS…Those traveling early for the holiday week may find
travel difficult on east-west highways Saturday morning and then
north-south highways Saturday afternoon and early evening. In
addition…any gusts in the 40 to 50 mph range could cause tree
limbs to fall, which could lead to a few power outages.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
