A St. Joseph Resident faces multiple charges after a DUI Traffic Crash occurred the the morning of Monday, November 20th along I-74 East at milepost 188.5.
Preliminary details from Illinois State Police indicate Clayton Holzinger, 20, of St. Joseph, IL (unit 1) and Matthew Barrack, 20, of Foosland, IL (unit 2) were both eastbound along I-74. Multiple witnesses reported Unit 1 to be traveling at high speeds while in the passing lane. Unit 1 the left the roadway into the left ditch, attempted to re-enter the roadway and lost control. He then struck the driver’s side of unit 2 which caused him to enter the median once more, overturn and strike median cable wires and posts. The vehicle came to a rest on the passenger side.
Holzinger was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. Upon release, he was then transported to Champaign County Jail where he was charged with driving under the Influence of of drugs, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, use of electric communication device while driving, possession of cannabis, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Unit 2 was uninjured.
