Severance Package For Former NIU President In Doubt
(DeKalb, IL) — The former president of Northern Illinois University might not get to keep his 600 thousand-dollar severance package after all. A judge on Wednesday declared the six figure payment to former Northern Illinois University President Doug Baker null and void because school trustees violated the state’s Open Meetings Act. Trustees placed the buyout on the agenda last June, but called it a review. The judge says because the board was too vague, the action they took is invalid.
