Cat To Pay Fine, Restitution In California Repair Scam
(Peoria, IL) — Caterpillar is accepting a five million-dollar fine and another 20 million-dollars in payments to end the investigation into a rail car repair scam in California. Cat yesterday agreed to the fine and restitution to end the case from 2008 that saw workers at a Cat subsidiary in California charge customers for unneeded repairs to rail cars, sometimes for damage workers themselves created. Cat says it’s taken ‘corrective action’ against the employees involved in the case.
