Formal Charges For U of I Student In Menorah Case
(Champaign, IL) — A University of Illinois student is looking at a possible three year prison term for damaging a campus menorah. Prosecutors in Champaign County yesterday filed formal charges against Jacob Bassler. Police say Bassler shook the menorah at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life on campus in late October, he also took-off one branch. Bassler is facing a single felony charge of criminal damage to property, he’s due in court again next week.
