(Douglas County, Co) — Aerial pictures show a calm situation at a Denver-area apartment complex where reports indicate multiple deputies were injured this morning. A SWAT vehicle remains on the scene in Highlands Ranch, 18 miles south of Denver and there’s still a major police presence in the area. Earlier a “Code Red” was sent out by Douglas County telling residents to shelter in place. There’s no status on the deputies and it’s not clear if any residents were injured. Some reports say a domestic incident set off the violent attack.

A major police presence this morning in the Highlands Ranch area south of Denver after reports of multiple officers down in Douglas County. A “Code Red” has been sent out by Douglas County telling residents to shelter in place. The SWAT team and the bomb squad are in place, about 18 miles south of Denver. Gunfire could be heard and the incident remains an active scene. Various roads like the busy C-470 at Colorado Boulevard are closed. Ambulances and fire trucks can be heard racing to the scene.

(Douglas County, Co) — Colorado authorities say an undisclosed number of Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies are wounded this morning after deputies responded to a home in a Denver suburb. The incident is taking place in the community of Highlands Ranch. Deputy Jason Blanchard tells the “Denver Post” multiple officers are down. Deputies were responding to a disturbance call when shots were fired from a home before 6 a.m. local time. The Sheriff’s office is telling residents to shelter in place. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says a SWAT team is deployed.
