A drunk driving accident displaced a family from its home in Heartville. Authorities say 30-year-old Riley Douthit, of Watson drove into the home of Nathan Rueter and Tawnia Monnett on U.S. 45 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Rueter, Monnett, their two daughters, and a friend of one of the daughter’s were home when the car went through the living room and out onto the deck. Fortunately, none of them were injured. Douthit was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and an Effingham County warrant for resisting a peace officer.
