(Chicago, IL) — After his week-long stay at the troubled state veterans’ home in Quincy, Governor Rauner has announced plans to combat Legionnaires’ disease there. Twelve residents died at the home two years ago from Legionnaires’ and one more last year. Rauner says even though the state did all the right things to make changes, more cases cropped up. He says now he knows that to achieve the goal of zero cases of Legionnaires’, the next step is to replace all of the plumbing, and possibly make other upgrades. But Rauner says it’s too soon to say how much it will cost or exactly where the money will come from.
