According to a post on the Coles County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, in the past 30 days the Coles County Sheriff’s Department has taken several reports regarding barns, sheds and businesses being broken into. The victims reported that their farm equipment and industrial equipment had been damaged, specifically wires cut or missing from farm implements.
We are encouraging farmers and other citizens who may have buildings in the county to check their property to ensure there property has not been broken into as well. Most of the buildings broken into were at locations where there were no houses in close proximity.
Anyone who believes their buildings have been broken into and have not yet reported it is encouraged to contact the Coles County Sheriff’s Department and file a report.
