(Washington, DC) — A bill responding to the scandal over the treatment of Olympic athletes is headed to President Trump’s desk. The House easily passed the bill after earlier approval by the Senate. The measure requires the U.S. Olympic Committee’s amateur sports groups to immediately report all sexual abuse claims to police. Athletes younger than 18 would not be allowed to be alone with adults who are not their parents or guardians. Former U.S. gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was sentenced to up to 175 in prison. Nassar admitted to decades of sexually molesting young gymnasts when he was supposed to be treating them for injuries.
