According to a press release from the Charleston Police Department, on Tuesday, 1.30.18, at approximately 10:46pm officers from the Charleston Police Department, with assistance from the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force, conducted a traffic stop at 4th St. and Adams Ave. The stop resulted in the arrest of William S. Danison,32 of Newman and Stacey L. Barnes, 37 of Charleston.
During the traffic stop, a Charleston Police K-9 alerted on the vehicle, which resulted in a search of the vehicle. The search yielded evidence of Methamphetamine and Heroin possession. Barnes was also found in possession of hypodermic syringes containing suspected heroin residue.
Danison was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Barnes was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin) and Possession of Drug Equipment. Both were placed in the Coles County Jail Pending Bond. The Volkswagen driven by Danison was seized pending a vehicle seizure hearing.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
