Effingham, IL – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, today announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of January.
Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 195 calls for service and initiated 1,469 incidents in the field.
In addition, enforcement figures totaled 497 citations and 759 written warnings, including 241 speeding citations, 5 DUIs, 48 seat belt citations, 2 child restraint citations, 245 written warnings for speeding, and 23 criminal arrests.
Troopers also assisted 336 motorists, conducted 302 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 86 traffic crashes. There were no fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in January.
During the month, 325 citations and 301 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations.
These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
