(Chicago, IL) — The gun debate continues in Springfield with more gun control bills being considered by committees in both houses. One pending measure would ban high capacity magazines and body armor for everyone but police officers. The bill is named for slain Chicago police Commander Paul Bauer, whose accused killer had both. Superintendent Eddie Johnson testified for the measure Thursday and passage is expected. A bill requiring gun dealers to be licensed by the state is on Governor Rauner’s desk, but he’s refused to take a stand on the bill.
