(Washington, DC) — Attorney General Jeff Sessions has fired former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe. McCabe was set to retire in two days and receive his full pension. In a statement out tonight, Sessions said “I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately.” The FBI recommended that McCabe be fired after a Department of Justice report said he misled investigators about his decision to authorize FBI officials to speak to the media about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The DOJ added that “McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor – including under oath – on multiple occasions.” His firing impacts when he will receive his full pension.
