Everyone is safe after a house fire in Charleston last night. According to Fire Chief Steve Bennett, the Charleston Fire Department was dispatched to 514 North 6th Street, where they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home. Crews got assistance from the Mattoon Fire Department, Lincoln Fire Protection District, Dunn’s Ambulance, and the American Red Cross. No one was at home at the time. However, the fire has displaced three people.
