American Woman, Japanese Man Win Boston Marathon
(Boston, MA) — It’s a historic day for the winners of the 2018 Boston Marathon. Olympian Desiree Linden beat the field, rain and cold to become the first U.S. woman to win in Boston in 33 years. Linden is 34-years-old. Yuki Kawauchi became the first Japanese man to win since Toshihiko Seko in 1987, the year Kawauchi was born. Yesterday marked the five-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and wounded more than 200 in 2013.
