(Washington, DC) — Jim Bridenstine is now the new NASA Administrator. He was sworn-in by Vice President Mike Pence this afternoon at NASA’s Washington headquarters. Bridenstine is a former Navy pilot and Republican Congressman from Oklahoma who resigned his seat just this morning. But he had a rough Senate confirmation, squeezing through on a 50-to-49 party line Senate vote last week over seven months after he was nominated. Opponents questioned Bridenstine’s management experience, scientific qualifications and previous positions questioning climate change. Bridenstine was welcomed to NASA in a live video feed by three astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
