(Sacramento, CA) — The man suspected of being the Golden State Killer is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Sacramento County Superior Court. Joseph James DeAngelo was arraigned this afternoon for the double murder of Katie and Brian Maggiore while they were out walking their dog in Rancho Cordova in 1978. He has so far been charged with eight counts of murder across three counties during a 10-year crime spree in the 1970s and ’80s. DeAngelo entered the courtroom in a wheel chair, but he didn’t enter a plea. He was assigned a public defender and will return to court May 14th.
