The section of Route 121 in Cumberland County between County Road 1450 East and County Road 1600 East will be renamed the “SPC Michael Flood Memorial Highway.” Illinois lawmakers passed the resolution introduced by State Representative Reggie Phillips to honor the Toledo man who was killed in Vietnam in 1969. Flood died while providing aid to others who were wounded. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star.
