(Puna, HI) — Officials are raising the volcano warning level on the Big Island of Hawaii from orange to red. The upgrade means an eruption with significant emission of ash is forecasted to be eminent. It comes as a massive ash cloud grows in the sky, causing health officials to issue warnings for people to avoid excessive exposure to ash, especially those with respiratory issues. Hawaii Volcano Observatory confirmed a new fissure opened Tuesday, bringing the number to 19 since the Kilauea [[ KILL-uh-WAY-uh ]] volcano first erupted nearly two weeks ago.
