According to a facebook post from Oakland CUSD #5, 10:20am, Wednesday, May 23:
“This morning, one of our students diligently brought to our attention a Snapchat made by an individual that resides in our district. Although it did not directly name Oakland Schools, it did refer to a school setting.
The individual is currently in the custody of law enforcement officials.
Therefore, the lock down at Oakland Schools has been lifted.
During the lockdown, students continued to go to their classes, but no one was allowed to enter or exit any district buildings.
School will dismiss at 2:15 as regularly scheduled.
Thank you to everyone in the community for their cooperation during this situation. Thank you to our students and staff for remaining calm. Thank you to the Oakland Police Department, The Coles County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.”
