WIU Faces Uncertain Future
(Macomb, IL) — School leaders at Western Illinois University say they may run out of money by the end of next year. WIU on Monday said enrollment at its campuses in Macomb and the Quad Cities will fall about 14-percent next fall. Western is expecting just 815 freshmen this next school year. That’s down nearly a third from just a year ago. Budget Director Letisha Trepac says WIU is expecting a deficit of almost eight-million-dollars next year.
