(Chicago, IL) — Mayor Emanuel is looking to Springfield for help with paying for the infrastructure changes needed to accommodate the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. Emanuel hailed the City Council’s 47-to-one vote today to approve the Obama center, calling the Obama Foundation investment the biggest boost for the south side in decades. To make it work, though, there will be a lot of road and sewer work needed and Emanuel says Springfield should help with that. He said there’s a precedent because the state spends millions each year to support the Lincoln library in Springfield. Governor Rauner has been supportive of the project, but hasn’t committed to any specifics.
