Two people were injured in separate crashes on I-70 yesterday. According to the Illinois State Police, Maxwell Engel, of Indianapolis blew a tire and lost control of his truck at mile post 112. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on the left shoulder of westbound I-70. He was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital. The second crash occurred moments after. A tractor-trailer driven by Surinder Gill, of Fontana, California rear-ended a rig driven by Latina Allen, of Indianapolis. Allen, who was stopped in traffic because of the previous accident, was taken by ambulance to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Gill was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
