(Washington, DC) — President Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is a go, despite calls from lawmakers from both parties to cancel the summit. The calls come after the indictments of a dozen Russian intelligence agents for trying to influence the 2016 presidential election. In a statement, Senator John McCain said that Trump must confront Putin and hold him accountable. If not, the Arizona Republican said the summit should be canceled. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer released a statement saying “glad-handing with Vladimir Putin — on the heels of these indictments — would be an insult to our democracy.”
